By the time we were ready to sell in June 2018 we were cognisant that things had changed since selling our last house 16 years before. One key difference was the number of people advertising their property now online on Rightmove, Zoopla and S1 etc. This made our wife and I realise that using standard high-street estate agents with their myriad shops in all the major cities and towns with correspondingly high staffing overheads were not needed and hence overly expensive. So initially we decided to take our own photographs and advertise our property ourselves on those websites, but we were so caught up with preparing the house and looking for another property we realised we needed to have this taken out of our hands, but not by the well known high-street estate agents.
It was then a flyer came through the letter box from Unicorn Homes that ticked every box. Very small company run from a single shop front in Mount Florida but willing to advertise your property wherever in Scotland it may be located on the key online websites, all at a considerably reduced cost due to their small staffing and building costs.
By the time I met Dario I was convinced we had the right company. He didn't just take us through from start to finish guiding us all the way, he is genuinely a nice person to deal with, and it is no front. So although these new up and coming estate agents are small in comparison there is no reduction in quality from the perspective of my wife and myself looking back now.
Dario does his own photography reducing costs for his company even further and thus reducing costs for his clients; his walk-through videos were just brilliant and I am someone who does his own photography and professional photo editing.
The result, we got the price we were looking for from our property, with the estate agent fees at less than half the price of a standard estate agent. My aging inlaws in Shetland would have sold their property too through Unicorn Homes if circumstances hadn't changed for them that hindered them from selling.
I cannot give enough credit to this company, that's how my wife and I feel.
